The states of an order
The seven states, what each one allows, and who moves them.
An order goes through seven states. The label shown isn't the same for the buyer and the seller — it's the same state, seen from two sides.

Two cycles, depending on the product
Digital product — the order moves to Delivered as soon as payment is confirmed. Nobody has anything to do: the file becomes available, with 3 downloads and 5 days.
Service and physical product — double confirmation. The seller declares they delivered, the buyer confirms. Without an answer from the buyer, the order is automatically confirmed after 5 days.
“Delivered” doesn't always mean “confirmed”
An order can reach Delivered through the automatic close, without the buyer confirming anything. The order's detail says so when that's the case — and for a seller wondering whether their delivery actually landed, that note is what counts, not the state.
Cancelling only goes as far as payment
A paid order can't be cancelled
Cancelling is only possible in the Pending and Payment in progress states, by the buyer or the seller. Once payment is confirmed, no screen cancels it.
The reason is required, and it's a free-text field: "Enter the reason for cancellation…". There's no list to pick from — write what happened, because that's what the other side will read.
It's also why it pays to ask the seller your questions before paying, especially for something made to order.
The product is frozen at the time of the order
The name, photo, price and quantity recorded on an order are those of the day you bought. If the seller edits or deletes their listing afterwards, the order keeps its own data.
