Managing your notifications

Where your notifications are, the three domains, the three channels, and what can't be switched off.

Your notifications aren't a tab

There is no Notifications tab along the bottom of the screen, and that's where everyone looks for them. They're behind the bell:

Home tab β†’ πŸ”” at the top right

That's the only door. The red dot on the bell counts your unread ones.

The settings are somewhere else:

Profile tab β†’ βš™οΈ β†’ "Profile and content" β†’ "Notifications"

You can also get there from the Activity screen itself, through its β‹― β†’ "Notification preferences".

The three domains

DomainWhat it coversCan it be switched off?
Social activityLikes, comments, followsYes
CommerceOrders, payments, deliveriesYes
SystemAccount security, moderation decisions, team invitationsNo, never

Sellers: don't switch off the Commerce domain

That's how you find out an order has arrived, a payment is confirmed and a transfer has gone out. Switched off, you discover your sales by opening the app.

The three channels

ChannelScope
Push notifications"Received on your device"
In-app notifications"Shown for the active profile"
Email notifications"Notifications sent to {your address}", with "Change address β†’"

These settings apply to your account, not to the page

The screen opens from an active profile, which suggests the opposite. But its subtitle says it: "For your account, across all your profiles." Switching off the Commerce domain from a page switches it off everywhere.

Only one of the three lines really depends on the profile: in-app notifications, "shown for the active profile".

If you're waiting for a notification on your page

You have to be switched to that page to see it in the Activity screen. That's the first thing to check before concluding it never arrived.

If nothing reaches your phone any more

Friym says so: "Push notifications are disabled at the system level." β†’ Open settings. The block comes from the phone, not from Friym: that's where it has to be lifted.

The Activity screen

Home tab β†’ πŸ””

Seven filters slide along the top: All Β· Mentions Β· Replies Β· Likes Β· Followers Β· Commerce Β· System. Below them, three sections: "New", "This week", "Earlier".

The screen's β‹― carries three actions:

LabelEffect
"Mark all as read"Clears the dot on the bell
"Notification preferences"Opens the settings above
"Delete all"Permanent: "This will permanently delete all your notifications."

Notifications group by actor β€” "Awa and 12 others liked your post". The count is reliable; the list of faces stops at three.

Four commerce notifications have no actor at all, because nobody acted: "Your payment has been confirmed", "Your order has been completed", "Your order has been automatically confirmed", "Your transfer has been processed".
