Understanding a penalty
The scale of penalties, what they take away, and where to read them.
A penalty never arrives without a screen to explain it. You read it in:
Profile tab → ⚙️ → "Account security" → "Sanctions and appeals"
What the screen can name

What moves you from one level to the next isn't shown
The app names the penalty and its duration, not the rule that produced it. If a decision seems disproportionate to you, an appeal is how you say so.
What a penalty takes away
Eight capabilities can be removed, separately: posting · commenting · reacting · sending messages · following profiles · listing items for sale · editing your profile · creating a profile.
Each can apply to one profile or to the whole account — the screen says which: "On this profile" or "On the whole account".
What you see when you hit one

The time remaining is always shown. You don't have to guess how long it lasts.

If there's nothing: "No sanctions on your account — If a moderation decision concerned you, it would appear here along with the deadline to appeal."
The reason shown is moderation's own
It isn't the reason of whoever reported you. Someone can report you for "scam" and moderation uphold something else entirely — or nothing at all.
