Appealing a penalty
Seven days to have a decision reread.
Any penalty can be appealed for 7 days from the day it's issued. The button is on the Sanctions screen, on the penalty concerned.
Profile tab → ⚙️ → "Account security" → "Sanctions and appeals" → "Appeal"
What's asked of you
“Appeal this decision”
"Explain what you think was missed. A moderator will read your request." — input field: "What actually happened…"
Then: "Appeal sent. You'll be notified of the outcome."
What makes a good appeal
Moderation has already seen the content. What they don't have is the context.
- say what happened, factually, rather than how the decision makes you feel;
- what couldn't have been seen: an exchange elsewhere, a permission, a quote taken for an attack;
- if it's mistaken identity or a shared account, say so immediately.
Reread the reason upheld before writing: that's what you need to answer, not the report you imagine was made.
The possible refusals
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Please explain a little more" | The text is too short to be reread |
| "The appeal window has closed." | The 7 days have passed |
| "Your appeal is under review." | One at a time — wait for the answer |
| "This sanction no longer exists." | It was lifted in the meantime |
The deadline is counted by Friym, not by your phone
The app never works out the deadline itself. Changing your phone's date changes nothing.
A detail that explains older penalties
Before 27 August 2026, a penalty was recorded but blocked nothing. If you see an old penalty in your list that never stopped you doing anything, that's correct: it isn't a display fault.
