Posting for the first time
One place to write everything, and what happens afterwards.
It all starts from the + button, at the bottom of the screen. There's only one composer: you don't pick a type up front, you compose, and the toolbar decides the format.
Check which profile you're writing as
The audience selector, at the top of the composer, tells you who is about to post. If your account carries pages, tap it to choose between your personal profile and one of them.
This is the most common mistake early on: writing a post meant for your page, and publishing it under your own name. Once it's out, you have to delete it and start again.
What you can post
The composer's toolbar has five buttons: images from your gallery, a video, an audio recording, a photo taken right now, and a product from your shop.
One kind of media per post
You can't mix formats: "Content type already chosen — Remove {the media} first before adding another type."
Text does more than it looks
You can make text bold, italic, underlined or struck through. But two characters in particular aren't decoration:
Typing @ opens mention suggestions. A mention holds the person's username,
not their display name — so it keeps working even if they change their name.
Typing # creates a hashtag, which becomes a way into search: people can
come across your post through it.
What the composer doesn't ask for
No category, no keywords, no location, no topic. No disappearing posts, and no drafts: what you write goes out, or you abandon it. "Cancel" says as much — "Discard post? Your content will be lost for good."
While it uploads
The composer closes and takes you back to Home. The upload continues in the background, with a progress bar at the top of the feed.
In other words, you can carry on reading while a video goes out. And your post appears at the top of the feed as soon as it's ready.
If the network drops, nothing is lost
A post started without a connection is set aside and goes out on its own as soon as the network comes back. You don't have to rewrite it. If something really is stuck, Friym tells you when you return to the app.
Afterwards, and if it doesn't go out
Once published, the action bar carries Like, Comment, Repost, Share and the view counter. The ⋯ at the top right carries "Edit post", "Delete" and "Report" — and nothing else. Sharing is not in that menu.
Two things can stop you posting, and the screen tells you which: a penalty currently running — with the time remaining — or, on a page, a permission the owner didn't give you.
