Finding your way around
Five tabs, two buttons at the top, and where the rest lives.
If you're going in circles in the app, this page is for you. It doesn't explain one particular feature: it explains how Friym is arranged, which settles most "I can't find it" questions.
There's one thing to understand, and everything else follows from it: the whole app fits into five tabs, along the bottom of the screen. Nothing else lives at that level. Everything you open afterwards stacks on top and closes again with your phone's back button.
| Tab | What it opens | |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ | Home | Your feed |
| ๐ | Search | Search and the explorer |
| + | Create | The post composer |
| ๐ฌ | Messages | Your conversations |
| ๐ค | Profile | Your active profile |
"Where's the menu?"
It's the question we get most, and the answer throws people: there isn't one. No side menu, no drawer sliding in from the edge, no three-line button. None of that exists in Friym, so you can stop looking for it.
In practice, when someone says "the menu", they almost always want one of these two things:
- the settings โ the Profile tab, then โ๏ธ at the top right;
- switching page โ the Profile tab, then "Profiles" at the top left.
The two buttons at the top
These are the only two that live outside the tabs. They're also, by far, the two most hunted for.
The bell ๐, on Home. That's where your notifications are, and nowhere else. Plenty of people look for them along the bottom, among the tabs โ there is no Notifications tab, and this is the single most common mix-up.
The gear โ๏ธ, on your Profile. It opens "Settings and activity", where roughly half of this help center starts: your security, your shop, your purchases, your blocks, the language.
The active profile decides what you see
This is the second thing to understand, and it explains a great many false alarms. On Friym you're never "you and your pages" at once: you are on one profile at a time, and many screens change completely depending on which.
Profile tab โ "Profiles" โ the list, with a tick on the active one
So before concluding that something has vanished, check which profile you're on. A screen you can't find, a notification that never arrives, a recent search gone missing: nine times out of ten, that's it and nothing else.
A missing menu entry is almost never a fault
What the settings contain depends on your active profile and on your role. A missing entry is a hidden entry: either you're on the wrong profile, or that right wasn't granted to you. See Roles and permissions.
Where is it?
Here are the paths we're asked for most, written gesture by gesture. Keep this list handy for the first few days โ after a week you won't need it.
| What you're looking for | The path |
|---|---|
| The settings | Profile tab โ โ๏ธ |
| Your notifications | Home โ ๐ at the top right |
| Switching page | Profile โ "Profiles" at the top left |
| Creating a page | "Profiles" โ "Create a page" |
| A message you never got | Messages โ "Requests" tab |
| Messaging someone | Their profile โ "Message" |
| Blocking someone | Their profile โ โฏ โ "Block" |
| Unblocking someone | โ๏ธ โ "General" โ "Blocked accounts" |
| Reporting a post | The post's โฏ โ "Report" |
| Sharing a post | The Share button on the action bar โ not the โฏ |
| Editing your profile | โ๏ธ โ "Profile and content" โ "Edit my profile" |
| Protecting your account | โ๏ธ โ "Account security" โ "Authentication" |
| Your recovery codes | Same screen โ "Recovery codes" row |
| Signing a device out | โ๏ธ โ "Account security" โ "Active sessions" |
| Changing the language | โ๏ธ โ "General" โ "Language" |
| Dark mode | โ๏ธ โ "General" โ "Appearance" |
| Your orders (as a buyer) | โ๏ธ โ "Profile and content" โ "My purchases" |
| Your sales | โ๏ธ โ "My shop" โ "Sales" tab |
| Your money | โ๏ธ โ "My shop" โ "Revenue" tab |
| Your ID document | โ๏ธ โ "Shop and earnings" โ "Identity verification" |
| A penalty | โ๏ธ โ "Account security" โ "Sanctions and appeals" |
| A page that disappeared | โ๏ธ โ "General" โ "Closed pages" |
| An announcement you missed | โ๏ธ โ "General" โ "Panel" |
| Reporting a bug | โ๏ธ โ "Support" โ "Report a bug" |
Ten things that look like faults
These are our ten most frequent reasons for getting in touch. None of them is a bug โ and if you recognise your case here, you have your answer straight away, without writing to us.
| What happens | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| A menu entry is missing | It's hidden by your role or your active profile |
| Notifications aren't a tab | They're behind the ๐ on Home |
| A message never arrives | It's in the "Requests" tab |
| Nobody can see your product | It's a draft. You have to publish it |
| The shop screen has no + | The five conditions aren't met yet |
| "Confirm it's you" while you're signed in | That's fresh proof, not a sign-out |
| The feed shows grey cards | That's your connection, not an empty feed |
| You can't see yourself in the explorer | Up to an hour of lag. It isn't a penalty |
| A hashtag stops | 50 posts, with no next page |
| A closed page is gone from the switcher | It's in "Closed pages", for 30 days |
Friym isn't on the web yet
Everything happens in the mobile app
There is no web version of Friym. You can't sign in from a computer, or check your feed, your shop or your orders in a browser. This isn't a fault or an account restriction: the web surface doesn't exist yet.
The friym.com addresses you come across are there to open the app or to
share โ not to do anything from a browser. Six shapes reopen Friym on your
phone:
/@username ยท /@username/post/โฆ ยท /@username/show/โฆ ยท /prd/โฆ ยท /post/โฆ ยท
/show/โฆ
Sharing your profile always produces an address of that shape:
https://friym.com/@your-username.
Two exceptions, which really are websites rather than the app: legal.friym.com for the legal documents, and this help center.
Three buttons you'll look for, that don't exist
Worth saying up front โ it'll save you some hunting.
The side menu. There isn't one. Everything goes through the five tabs at the bottom.
The "withdraw my money" button. That one doesn't exist either, and it's good news: your earnings leave on their own once you pass the threshold, with nothing for you to think about. See When do I get paid?.
The "open a dispute" button. There's none in the app โ but that doesn't mean you're on your own. When things go wrong with a seller or a buyer, we settle it, and it starts with an email to support@friym.com. See Requesting a refund.
