Completing your profile

A complete profile isn't vanity. It's what someone looks at for two seconds before deciding whether to follow you — and, if you ever plan to sell, it's the first of the conditions.

What your profile is made of

Your photo and your banner. The two images that stand for you. When you create your account, Friym offers you an avatar from a list; you can swap it for a real photo whenever you like.

Your full name, the one shown in large type. You can change it as often as you want without breaking anything: when someone mentions you in a post, the link holds on to your username, not your name. An old mention therefore keeps pointing at you.

Your @username, which identifies you everywhere. You didn't choose it: it was derived from your full name when you created your account. And that one never changes, even when you change your name.

Your bio, to say what you do. And your category, to say what you talk about.

The list Friym shows you

Friym displays what you're still missing and updates it as you go. What's left to do moves to the front; what's done slides to the end.

Nobody forces you to finish it, and your account works perfectly well without. But there are two good reasons to deal with it.

The first applies today. When someone lands on your profile, they decide in two seconds whether to follow. A photo and one line of bio are often all that separates "who's this?" from "I'm following". An empty profile gets scrolled past.

The second matters if you plan to sell one day. Having a complete profile is the first of the five conditions for opening a shop. It's also the quickest to sort out — may as well tick it now, while there's no rush.

Changing things later

Everything can be revisited at any time:

Profile tab → ⚙️ → "Profile and content" → "Edit my profile"

One exception: if you look after someone else's page, editing that page depends on what the owner entrusted to you. If the entry doesn't appear, it isn't a fault — that permission wasn't granted to you.
