Can I sell on Friym?

What you need before you can put a product online.

Yes — anyone can sell. But not from your personal profile, and not on day one.

Here's what it takes.

A page

A shop doesn't open on your personal profile. You need a page: a second profile, created alongside your own.

Your personal profile doesn't disappear and doesn't change. Both live on the same account, and you switch between them whenever you like.

Creating a page takes four screens, from Profile → "Profiles" → "Create a page". See Personal profile or page.

Five things to gather

Once your page exists and commerce is switched on, your shop screen shows your progress — "Set up your shop" — and nothing else until the list is done.

Your profile must be complete. Photo, banner, bio, category.

You must have posted 5 times from your page.

You must have 20 followers on your page. It's the longest step when you're starting out, and the only one nothing shortens: you have to post, and let time do its work.

You must have entered your Mobile Money number. That's where your money will land.

You must have had your identity verified. A valid ID document, with photos. See Verifying your identity.

There's only one follower threshold

20, and that's it. If you've heard another number, forget it.

Why we ask for all this

We know it's frustrating when you're in a hurry to sell. So here's honestly what it's for.

A scammer can create an account in two minutes. What they can't fabricate in two minutes is twenty followers who actually exist and five posts that hold up. The time it would cost them, they'll go and spend elsewhere — and that's exactly the point.

The ID document does something else: it makes a shop belong to someone. Without it, the same person could open ten accounts, buy their own products and move money around in circles. We can't let that happen, and we're not allowed to either.

The result is that on the day you put a product online, people will dare to pay. That wait is what makes your shop credible.

The one step nothing shortens

The 20 followers. Your profile, the posts, the number and the ID can all be dealt with in one evening; an audience can't. That's normal, and it's the moment to use Friym as a network before using it as a shop.

One shop per account

However many pages you have, you'll only get one shop. Creating another page changes nothing.

That's important to know before choosing the page you open it on: that choice is permanent.

Two refusals that look alike, and don't end the same way

If you read "a shop opens from a page, not from your personal profile", you're just missing a page: create one.

If you read "this account already has a shop on another profile", it's elsewhere on your own account. There, there's nothing more to be done.

And then
