Creating a product

Three types, the real limits, and a starting state that catches people out.

Profile tab → ⚙️ → "My shop" → the +

Creating a product is only possible once you're a verified seller. Before that, the shop screen has no + at all: it only shows your progress.

When it's empty: "No products yet — Tap + to create your first product".

Screen 1 — "What do you want to sell?"

"Choose the type that matches what you're offering. You can always create another one later."

TypeWhat Friym says about it
Digital product"A file delivered automatically once payment is confirmed: ebook, template, beat, preset… Create it once and sell it forever."
Service"Your time or expertise. You deliver it yourself after the sale: coaching, custom design, photo session…"
Physical product"An item you ship yourself: clothing, crafts, cosmetics… The buyer leaves their address, and you get paid once they confirm delivery."

The type can't be changed afterwards

The three don't carry the same fields and don't have the same delivery cycle. Choose knowing that.

Screen 2 — the form

Fields common to all three:

Description2,000 characters, with a counter

Category

Then, depending on the type:

TypeWhat's added
DigitalThe file to deliver — "This file will never be publicly visible. It will only be sent to the buyer after payment has been confirmed."
ServiceA delivery time: 48h · 3-5 business days · Subject to availability. And terms: "How will the service be delivered?"
PhysicalNothing more

The physical product is deliberately minimal

No stock, no sizes, no colours, no weight. The target is the shopkeeper who posts in thirty seconds from her phone.

The price

The minimum is 655 FCFA, roughly a dollar.

Zero is allowed: a free product can be created without trouble. The refusal only happens between 1 and 654.

The refusal always talks in FCFA

"Minimum price is 655 FCFA" appears as-is, even if you sell in another currency. If you're in Kenya or Nigeria, that is not 655 in your money: it's the equivalent of 655 FCFA. The message is misleading, and it's been reported.

Amounts travel as whole cents: there are no decimal prices.

File sizes

What you're uploadingMaximum size
An image10 MB
An audio file50 MB
A video100 MB
A digital product's file500 MB
A profile photo or a banner5 MB

Above 100 MB, a file uploads in chunks: it takes longer, and you shouldn't leave the screen.

The list of accepted formats isn't shown in the app: if a file is refused for its type, try a common format.

Screen 3 — the product appears… as a draft

Filling in the form doesn't put your product on sale

Every product is born as a draft, visible to you alone. You have to publish it explicitly. It's the most common misunderstanding in the shop.

See Publishing, editing and archiving a product.

The refusals

MessageWhat it means
"Minimum price is 655 FCFA"Your price is between 1 and 654
"Invalid price"The format isn't accepted
Counter at its limitTitle (200) or description (2,000) exceeded
The picker refuses a photoThe limit of 5 applies before upload
"Your role doesn't allow this"You're missing the permission to manage products

Limits apply while you type, not on submission: you don't lose your photos by discovering an overflow afterwards.

What doesn't exist

  • ⛔ Stock, sizes, colours, weight.
  • ⛔ Any affiliate setting.
  • ⛔ A reminder of the commission while you set your price — see The 5% commission.
