Verifying your identity

What's asked, how long it takes, and what happens if it's refused.

This is the last step before your shop really opens. Until it's approved, no product can be created.

Profile tab → ⚙️ → "Shop and earnings" → "Identity verification"

Or, from your shop's waiting list: "Submit my ID".

What's asked for

A valid ID document, of one of three kinds:

  • national identity card;
  • passport;
  • driving licence.

Then your identity details and photos taken with the camera. No country is asked for at the point of submission.

No biometrics, no third party

This is a document check with a photo. There's no face scan, and nothing is sent off to an outside identity service.

How long it takes

48 working hours. That's the review time for a complete file.

"Working" means weekends and public holidays don't count: a file sent on Friday evening is reviewed within the next two working days, not on Sunday.

The screen itself says “a few hours”

"Your documents have been received and are under review. This may take a few hours."

That's often true, and so much the better — but it isn't the commitment. The time to count on is 48 working hours. Don't worry if the first evening passes without an answer.

The five states

Each carries its own title on screen. That title is what to quote if you write to us.

Title shownWhat you read
"Verification required""Submit your documents to enable selling on Friym."
"Verification in progress""Your documents have been received and are under review."
"Identity verified""You can now sell freely on Friym." The shop opens: Products · Sales · Revenue
"Verification rejected"The rejection reason, and "Resubmit"
"Account blocked""Contact support for more information."

If it's refused

You're given the reason. Two things to know:

Resubmitting doesn't start again straight away

After a refusal, a waiting period runs before you can submit again. The screen shows the date from which it becomes possible.

There's also a permanent block on verification. In that case the screen points you to support@friym.com: that's the only way through.

What can go wrong during the upload

Going back is blocked while the photos transfer: an incomplete file would be worse than a wait. Let the screen finish.

If commerce isn't switched on for your page yet, this screen can't be reached: start with opening your shop.

It's yours, and nobody else's

Identity verification is one of the five things that can't be delegated: no member of your team can do it for you, whatever their role.
