How Mobile Money payment works
The wait for confirmation, and what it means.
A Friym payment plays out in two places: the app, which creates the order and starts the payment, and your operator, which asks you to confirm.
What happens, in order
You type your number
International format with the country code. The operator and country are worked out from the number — you don't pick them.
You confirm the summary
Address (for a physical product), detected operator, amount.
Your operator asks you to approve
"Confirm the payment on your phone via USSD or notification." That happens outside Friym. Don't leave your phone's screen too quickly.
Friym waits a few minutes
Then it stops waiting — which is not the same thing as declaring a failure.
The three outcomes
| Outcome | The message | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Payment confirmed! | "Your order has been received by the seller." | It's done |
| Payment pending | "You'll get a notification as soon as the payment is confirmed." | The wait ran out — this is not a failure |
| Payment failed | "The payment could not be processed. No amount has been debited." | Nothing was taken |
In all three cases, the order number is shown.
After that delay, Friym stops waiting — it doesn't declare failure
The payment can still go through, and a notification will tell you. Showing "failed" at that moment would be untrue.
Don't buy a second time while it's pending
A "pending" payment can still complete. Redoing the purchase straight away exposes you to being charged twice.
You can close the app
The order doesn't live on your screen: it lives at Friym, which follows the payment from its side. Closing the app cancels nothing and doesn't charge you twice. Reopen the order later and it will show its current state.
For a digital product
As soon as payment is confirmed, the order goes straight to Delivered and the file becomes available: 3 downloads, 5 days. See Receiving a digital product.
If the order doesn't appear
